Every Major Announcement at The Game Awards 2022

The advent of the Game Awards means exciting new announcements for games and updates for previously announced titles! This year was no different as fans were treated to three hours of new reveals and updates across a number of games including Final Fantasy XVI, Death Stranding 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and so much more. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Combat and Story Details Revealed
The Sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order finally received a gameplay trailer during The Game Awards. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will see an older Kal as he tries to stop the empire following the decimation of the Jedi order on a planet-hopping adventure. Kal is older and as such he now has access to a ton of new force abilities, including being able to slow down time and flinging his lightsaber vast distances. He will also wield new weapons and will have all new ways to traverse the environment. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is slated for a March 17, 2023 release on PC, Xbox Series X & S, and PS5.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores will continue Aloy’s Journey in 2023
Horizon Forbidden West opened earlier this year to rave reviews and almost a year on from release Aloy’s next adventure has been revealed. Burning Shores will see Aloy travel further east to Los Angeles which is now a volcanic archipelago to face off against a threat bigger than she’s ever faced. Along the way, she’ll meet new companions, enemies, and machines. Burning Shores will be the most ambitious Horizon Project to date and because of this, it will not release on PS4 consoles. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is slated for April 2023 for PS5.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Will Feature the Final Appearance of Kevin Conroy as Batman
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was revealed nearly three years ago at the first DC Fandome event. Since then developer Rocksteady has revealed little glimpses and teases about the game but has remained tightlipped about the release. The newest trailer not only revealed an exciting superhero we’ll be facing off against but also the release date. Kevin Conroy who passed away last month and has lent his voice to numerous Batman projects was confirmed to take on the role of the caped crusader one last time in Suicide Squad which will have players teaming up to take down the Justice League. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated for May 26, 2023, for Xbox Series X & S, PS5, and PC.
Bandai Namco Reveals Tekken 8
The highly anticipated sequel to Tekken 7 received a much-awaited gameplay reveal at the game awards. The trailer showed off several new returning characters including King and Jinn who have now been slightly redesigned. The trailer also gave us a glimpse into the game’s story. Tekken 8 is currently without a release date but should release sometime in 2023 for Xbox Series X & S, PS5, and PC.
Final Fantasy XVI Receives a Trailer and Release Date
Another PS5 Exclusive, Final Fantasy XVI has been heavily anticipated ever since its reveal almost two years ago. Game director Hiroshi Takai revealed earlier that the game was 90% done and that the team was working on eliminating as many bugs as possible before launch. The game received a brand-new trailer during the game awards which detailed just what fans can expect from the story and release date. Final Fantasy XVI is currently slated for a June 22, 2023 release on PS5.
Death Stranding 2 is Hideo Kojima’s Next Game
Hideo Kojima’s next game was revealed to be Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards. A follow up to 2018’s Death Stranding. The game sees the return of Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile as they embark on an entirely new journey. Little is known about the game but Kojima did tease that it will be slightly different from its predecessor. The game will leverage the power of the PS5 and the Decima engine to deliver top-notch visuals. Death Stranding 2 is currently without a release date.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is set to revive the long-dormant franchise
Before FromSoftware became synonymous with producing the extremely difficult Soulsborne games they were known for their equally as challenging Armored Core series. The long-dormant franchise is set to make a return next year with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon which will release across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Receives a Surprise Addition
Despite its rough start, Cyberpunk 2077 has been slowly gaining momentum, recently hitting an all-time high concurrent player count on Steam. The game is set to receive its first story DLC next year in the form of Phantom Liberty. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will add prolific actor Idris Elba to the game’s already impressive cast. Elba will play the character of Solomon Reed. This expansion will not release on the previous generation of consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and instead will only ship on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X & S sometime next year.
The Last of Us Part I and Returnal are headed to PC in 2023
Sony continues its foray into the PC market with the release of both Returnal and The Last of Us Part I for PC. Returnal will debut on PC in early 2023 while The Last of Us Part I will arrive on PC on March 3, 2023.
Diablo 4 is Set for June 2023
Diablo 4 received an explosive cinematic trailer during the game awards. The game was first revealed during Blizzcon 2019 and fans have been patiently waiting ever since.
