GameNama Weekly #11

On this week’s GameNama we’ll go over the much-awaited Fortnite Chapter 4 update along with info on the surprise early drop of the final DLC story mission in Eivor’s journey in Assassins Creed Valhalla as the series prepares for the launch of the next title. Additionally, we’ll also talk about the newest trailer for the highly anticipated The Last of Us TV show and the next edition of the Game Awards slated for later this week.

Like A Dragon: Ishin! Receives a Combat Trailer

The Yakuza games aren’t slowing down as the next entry in the series, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is all set to release in February next year. This rebuilt version of the Japanese-only PS3/PS4 game, Ryu ga Gotokou Ishin! will utilize Unreal Engine 4 to deliver top-notch visuals in an 1800s Japanese setting. The game received a brand-new combat trailer showcasing what exactly fans can expect when the game launches.

Despite being set in an earlier time period, Like a Dragon: Ishin! will retain most, if not all of the over-the-top combat flares of the main series, but with an increased emphasis on blood and gore. The game will feature four distinct combat styles. Swordsman, Gunman, Brawler, and Wild Dancer. There will also be a great variety of weapons including several Katanas and guns along with exciting abilities, and much more. This entry will also do away with Yakuza: Like A Dragon’s turn-based combat. Like A Dragon: Ishin! is set to release on February 21, 2023, across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Fortnite Chapter 4 is Now Live

Fortnite is no stranger when it comes to reinventing itself. The nearly five-year-old battle royale game is now entering its fourth chapter with a brand-new map and some interesting new weapons and items. Chapter 4 of Fortnite was preceded by an in-game live event titled “Fracture” where the chapter 3 island was destroyed. Players worked together to form the new map, which has fragments and pieces from all previous maps.

Fortnite Chapter 4 has introduced a slew of new weapons including the Ex-Caliber Rifle which shoots swords, the Maven Auto Shotgun, and the Red-Eye Assault Rifle. The game is also adding several new mechanics including Reality Augments which randomly apply stat buffs or penalties to different guns during the course of the match. New items include slap berries and slap juice, both of which provide energy regeneration.

The battle pass will feature several new characters, both original and from other games and popular franchises, including Doom Slayer from Doom, The Incredible Hulk, and Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series. Fortnite Chapter 4 is now available on all supported platforms.

Assassins Creed Valhalla’s Two-Year Post-Launch Support Comes to an End

After nearly two years of support Assassins Creed Valhalla has finally received its final content update. Valhalla has been on quite the ride over its two-year post-launch support. The Siege of Paris and Wrath of the Druids made up the game’s first year of post-launch content while Dawn of Ragnarök was released in the second year. Assassins Creed Valhalla has now become the longest-supported Assassins Creed title and the one with the most content as the game has received several free quests and DLCs alongside the paid ones.

The Final quest, titled “Shared History” bridges the gap between this game and the next entry, Assassins Creed Mirage (due out next year) by introducing Roshan, Basim’s mentor to the mix. The quest is short and mainly serves as a long overdue goodbye to Eivor while also setting up and foreshadowing the narrative in Mirage. The Final Chapter DLC is now available for free for all owners of Assassins Creed Valhalla.
