Elden Ring DLC Hinted at Through Latest Game Update

Elden Ring, From Software’s latest title in the highly popular Soulsborne series, received a brand-new update this week featuring separate damage scaling for multiplayer, allowing players to use their overpowered builds in PvP mode without the need for the developers to nerf them. Other fixes including balance updates for magic, spells, and melee weapons were also implemented with this patch. However, data miners were able to uncover something more interesting within the game files following the update.

Several in-game files were found referring to DLC which means additional content is on the way. The files refer to DLC01 which means that the game could receive more than one addons. The files also referred to two new areas on the map titled m20 and m45, the former of which is set to contain dungeons. Whether these will be part of the first DLC or will be broken up with several releases remains to be seen. There is currently no official news for Elden Ring DLC from From Software.

Todd Howard Talks Starfield

In a new video released by Bethesda Softworks, game director Todd Howard took center stage answering many fan questions and queries. Firstly, the game is set to feature a very robust dialogue system, going beyond what Fallout 4 and Skyrim achieved, according to the video Starfield will feature an outstanding 250,000 voice lines which is more than double that of Fallout 4.

Todd also detailed how role-playing games of the 80s and 90s have shaped Starfield, taking that heavy role-playing element and injecting it into Bethesda’s already excellent formula. He also mentioned how the team is still tinkering with the space exploration aspect of the game. The game’s trait system was also detailed; each trait you select will not only have a positive impact on your character but will also have a negative impact that can be removed via in-game quests. Starfield is currently scheduled for a 2023 release on Xbox Series X & S and PC.

Modern Warfare II to Receive a Paid DLC Expansion at The End of 2023

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the first Call of Duty game ever to have a two-year lifecycle. 2023 would have been Treyarch’s year for the next Call of Duty but Activision took a step back allowing all teams more breathing room to develop their games after the disastrous launch of Vanguard. The DLC expansion will contain additional missions for the campaign along with new maps for the Multiplayer portion.

It is unclear whether this is all that will be on offer or if more will be included. Current rumors suggest that the DLC will contain maps from the Original Modern Warfare II. This leak was posted by prolific Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson and was corroborated by Jason Schreier, who also broke the news on The Last of Us Part I, several months before it officially launched. Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is scheduled to debut on October 28, 2022, across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

The PlayStation 5 Has Finally Been Jailbroken

Much to the surprise of no one the PS5’s system software has finally been jailbroken thanks to a hacker known as SpecterDev. The exploit is currently only available for the 4.03 version of the software. The jailbreak is very unstable, however as SpecterDev claims an efficacy rate of around 30% and is very limited in its functionalities. Currently, games installed via the package loader aren’t playable. Despite the many limitations, this is still very promising for the modding community and represents the first step in having robust custom firmware for the PS5.

Four Player Co-op Coming to Gotham Knights, Game Devs Confirm no 60FPS Mode on Consoles

Gotham Knights, the next Batman game from WB Games Montreal is set to arrive next week, over the course of the last two weeks the studio has released several trailers and gameplay demo’s detailing what to expect from the title. On Friday a new Heroic Assault mode was announced which will allow for a four-player co-op in a Devil May Cry-style gauntlet run with waves of enemies across multiple floors.

The studio also confirmed, much to the dismay of eager fans that Gotham Knights will not ship with a 60fps option on current-gen machines. The game will feature just one graphical mode which will run at 30FPS at 4K with Ray Tracing enabled. The reasoning behind this decision was to provide a seamless co-op experience in a large and highly detailed Gotham city. It is still unclear whether a higher refresh rate option will be patched in later on. Gotham Knights launches on October 21, 2022, on PS5, Xbox Series X & S, and PC.
