GameNama Weekly #6

On this week’s GameNama we will go over the newly announced Witcher Remake from developer CD Projekt Red and Fools Theory as well as an exciting update for Fallout 4 and some not-so-good news for sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol. Keep on reading to find out this and more!

The Witcher is Set to Receive a Full Remake

The Witcher, which originally came out in 2007 and spawned the much beloved The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is set to receive a full, from-the-ground-up remake. The game will be built in Unreal Engine 5 in collaboration with developer Fool’s Theory. A remake for the first game makes complete sense because by today’s standards it does not hold up well at all. The project is still a couple of years out as the developers want to do this remake justice. CD Projekt Red says that it will be a while before more details are revealed.

Fallout 4 Will Receive a Next Gen Update Next Year

As the Fallout 25th-anniversary celebrations wind down, Bethesda made a surprise announcement earlier in the week; Fallout 4 is going to receive a native PS5 and Xbox Series X & S version next year with enhancements also coming to the PC version. This version of the game will feature true 4K visuals as well as a 60FPS performance mode, which no doubt will make the game much more enjoyable. The game will also receive new updates for the creation club.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is Out Now

The highly anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Modern Warfare is finally here. Featuring incredible multiplayer, spec ops, and an okay campaign. The game has faced several launch day bugs with many players reporting constant crashing and glitches. Modern Warfare II follows the story of Taskforce 141 as they face off a new threat in a globe-trotting adventure. For our full review of Modern Warfare II, click here.

PlayStation Has Set Up a New Studio That is developing a Game in Collaboration with Naughty Dog

PlayStation has set up a new studio in San Diego, which VGC spotted thanks to a job advertisement reading “new PlayStation studio based in San Diego… co-developing an exciting new project with naughty dog in a beloved franchise” there isn’t much information about this studio but given Naughty Dog’s portfolio it would be safe to assume that it could either be a new Uncharted game or a new Jak and Daxter title. Naughty Dog is currently working on a multiplayer spin-off of the Last of Us universe along with a as-yet unannounced second project.

The Callisto Protocol’s Japanese Release Has Been Cancelled

The Callisto Protocol, a sci-fi horror space adventure game from Glen Schofield (best known for his work on Dead Space) will not receive an official release in Japan. The game was touted for its gory nature and highly detailed limb and body destruction mechanics. Cero, the video game rating system in Japan asked the developers to censor this and tone it down but when they refused to do so, the game’s Japanese release was officially canceled.
