According to reports and credible leakers, Mafia 4 is now in early development. New details have emerged regarding the game’s setting, engine, and potential release date.

The Mafia series is one of the most well-known open word game series of all time. Debuting in 2002, the series has spawned a total of three games across two decades. In 2020, Take-Two Interactive released a remake for the first game and a remaster for the second while the third game had all its DLC made free in the form of a definitive package.
Mafia 4 is being helmed by Hanger 13, the studio that worked on Mafia III and the remake of the first game. It is being developed on the newly released Unreal Engine 5 and is currently in the early phases of development, according to credible insider Shpeshal Nick.
He also revealed that Mafia 4 is going to be a prequel to the first game and will span across the 19th and 20th centuries. Portions of the game will take place in Sicily and will heavily feature Don Salieri.

Don Salieri was the boss of Tommy, the protagonist of the first game, Shpeshal Nick also added that the game could be more linear in nature as opposed to earlier entries.
There is currently no release date for Mafia 4, but considering the game is in early development it could be a few years before the game sees the light of day.
