PS VR2 Pricing and Release Date Announced

Sony’s next-generation virtual reality headset is right around the corner and the Japanese tech giant has finally revealed details on when the headset will be available along with pricing details and bundles that will be available at launch. Many third- and first-party developers also revealed new games coming to PS VR2 when it launches early next year.

PS VR2 Will Officially Launch this February

As revealed by the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation VR2 will officially launch on February 22, 2023, with preorders starting later this month. The standard edition will come with the headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. At launch, a bundle featuring the Horizon VR spinoff game will also be available. The standard edition will retail for $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980 while the Horizon bundle will retail for $599.99 / €649.99 / £569.99 / ¥79,980. The Horizon bundle will come with everything included in the standard edition along with a digital download code for Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Also available at launch will be the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station. The charging station will allow the user to charge the controllers through a simple click-in design, much like the DualSense charging dock. The charging station will retail for $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 / ¥5,480.

New Games Coming to PS VR2

Additionally, Sony and its third-party partners also revealed several new titles headed to the system during its launch window, including The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, a rollercoaster action-horror-shooter by developer Supermassive games who were responsible for the excellent Until Dawn: Rush of Blood for the original PS VR. Cities Skyline, the popular urban management game first released for the PS4 is set to receive a VR port, titled Cities VR while Hello Neighbor is also receiving a VR spin-off titled Hello Neighbor: Search and Destroy. Other games coming to the system include Pistol Whip VR, Jurrasic World Aftermath Collection, and After the Fall.

PS VR2 is set to leverage the raw horsepower of the PlayStation 5 system to deliver truly unprecedented levels of detail and immersion. The system will feature a 110-degree field of view along with foveated rendering. The OLED display can achieve resolutions of up to 2000×2040 per eye. Additionally, the headset will also feature headset-based controller tracking through inbuilt cameras allowing for more accurate tracking of the controllers and the directions you move in, doing away with the clunky setup of its predecessor. The system will also have eye tracking and haptics in both the headset and the PS VR2 sense controllers to deliver experiences unlike anything on the market right now
