Marvel’s Wolverine is Aiming for a Mature Rating, Due Out in Late 2024, Early 2025

wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine, which is currently under development by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation 5 has remained in the shadows as the hype around the highly anticipated Spiderman 2, (also developed by Insomniac Games) which is due out this fall, continues to build. Jeff Grubb, a notable industry insider shared last week that the game is currently targeting a Mature rating. This would make sense as Wolverine is a character known for his gruesome antics and overly violent tendencies. This is also a far cry from the two Insomniac Spiderman games which have always been more family-friendly.

The game is also reportedly going to feature a semi-open world design moving away from the vast openness of New York (though the setting still remains unconfirmed) Grubb also added that the game will have no connections to the X-Men and that it is on track for a fall 2024 release but it could potentially move to early 2025. Marvel’s Wolverine is currently without a release date.

Rumbleverse, Knockout City, and Apex Legends Mobile are Shutting Down

rumbleverse

Battle Royale games have exited the market just as they have flooded it. Games like Ubisoft’s HyperScape and MidWinter Entertainment’s Scavengers were axed last year and three more games have joined the ill-fated failed Battle Royale club. Rumbleverse, a pro-wrestling-inspired Battle Royale game from Epic Games and Iron Galaxy is scheduled to go offline later this month, while Apex Legends Mobile ends services in May, and Knockout City From Velan Studios will cease online functionality in June.

Rumbleverse will offer full refunds to individuals who bought the game or any in-game currency or battle passes, additionally all players will receive the battle pass for free along with double XP events as the game comes close to ceasing operations. Apex Legends Mobile, on the other hand, issued a statement stating that no refunds will be provided to customers. Knockout City will receive a private server option once its online component shuts down in June, letting players enjoy the game for the foreseeable future.

EA Cancels a Titanfall/Apex Legends Single Player Game

Along with details on the Wolverine game, Jeff Grubb also provided some information on a now-canceled Titanfall/Apex Legends single-player title that was recently canceled by EA. A return to the Titanfall universe has long been requested by the fans of the cult classic mech FPS games. The new title wasn’t Titanfall 3 per se but it would have featured characters from both the previous Titanfall games as well as Apex Legends.

The game, titled Titanfall Legends was seeking inspiration from Doom Eternal, with Titanfall staple mechanics like wall running also set to make a return. The game was helmed by Mohammad Alavi, former narrative lead on Apex Legends. The project fell apart after his departure.

Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony are all Skipping E3 2023

During much of the 2000s, E3 was a yearly focal point for game reveals and updates, new hardware announcements, and grand shows from the three main competitors in the console space, Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox. E3’s popularity has been waning following the advent of online streaming events and it looks like this year all three of the gaming giants will be absent from the expo.

While Sony has distanced itself from E3 since 2019, opting for showcases broadcasted on YouTube and Twitch, this is the first time Microsoft will be absent from the event, which according to sources is due to a cut in Xbox’s marketing budget. The non-involvement of Nintendo, on the other hand, is probably due to the Japanese gaming giant wanting to keep the attention on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, (which is set to debut just a few weeks before E3) by not announcing any new games.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been Delayed by Six Weeks

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from developer Respawn entertainment has been widely anticipated by fans ever since the game was first announced early last year. During the Game Awards Jedi Survivor was given a release date of March 17, 2023, but that has since been abandoned as the game has been delayed by six weeks.

In a statement issued on Twitter, Respawn entertainment stated that the game has completed development and is now in the process of bug fixing and optimization. According to the post, the team needs more time to put out a polished product that is worthy of the Star Wars name. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch on April 28, 2023, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake is due out next month and anticipation has been mounting as the release date gets closer and closer. Since its announcement, Capcom has steadily revealed information about the game and just last week an extended gameplay video was released showcasing the updated iconic cabin defense sequence from the original.

The gameplay showed off the new character design for Luis, along with a new enemy type that will be present in the game. the demo also showed the jump in visual quality that the team has been able to achieve. The Resident Evil 4 Remake is scheduled to be released on March 24, 2023, for PC, Xbox Series X, and S, PS4, and PS5.
