The Last of Us Part I Launches on PC with Mixed Reactions

Ever since the initial announcement was made last year, there has been a great deal of anticipation for the release of The Last of Us Part I on PC. This is the first time Ellie and Joel’s journey will be playable on the PC platform and despite a delay that pushed that release back by several weeks, the game still launched in a state that has left a sour taste in the mouth of PC players.

From stuttering and performance issues to graphical bugs and crashes, the PC port has been riddled with problems. So much so that top-of-the-line PCs have been struggling to run the game smoothly. Naughty Dog has acknowledged the issues that are currently plaguing the game and has been quick to release a few hotfixes with larger patches scheduled for later. The Last of Us Part I is now available on PC and PS5.

Forspoken didn’t have the smoothest of launches when it was released in February, just under two months ago. From an underwhelming story and a plethora of technical issues, the game would eventually cause Luminous Productions to be folded into Square Enix, shuttering the studio after just two releases. Final Fantasy XV and Forspoken. The ill-fated game received the first details on its DLC content last week.

Titled, In Tanta we Trust, the DLC is a prequel to the main game, taking place 25 years before Frey’s story. Tekken 8 has slowly been building up hype over the last few months. Announced during Sony’s September 2022 State of Play conference, the eighth entry in the long-running and beloved fighting game series received its first hands-on, allowing content creators and outlets to get a small taste of the game’s fighting mechanics, character changes, and more.

Significant praise has been shown towards the game’s graphical improvement, from animation and character models to environmental details and more, Tekken 8 blows its predecessor out of the water with its graphical prowess. The game is also significantly faster than Tekken 7 and pushes for a much more aggressive playstyle all around.

This is primarily done through the game’s new heat system which can be activated manually or through receiving damage from your opponent. Tekken 8’s roster has been growing steadily as the studio unveils a new character trailer almost weekly. Characters like Panda have yet to receive their gameplay trailers. Tekken 8 is currently without a release date.

Ark Survival Evolved, the highly popular dinosaur hunting game from developer Wild Card released almost 8 years ago on PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and despite some very glaring technical issues the game still managed to carve out a dedicated player base for itself. The game is now scheduled to shut down completely on previous-gen consoles in August. Ark Survival Evolved will be replaced by Ark Survival Ascended, a next-gen version of the title.

The rerelease will be built on Unreal Engine 5 and will feature graphical, mechanical, and QOL improvements across the board. However, there is no upgrade path for existing owners of the game all previously released DLC will have to be purchased separately, with no upgrade options, many fans have already raised concerns over the studio’s anti-consumer practices but it looks like these policies will remain in place. Ark Survival Ascended is slated to arrive in August on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Marvel’s Avengers Receives Final Content Update

Marvel’s Avengers from developer Crystal Dynamics didn’t have the easiest time on the market. What was poised to be the next big game quickly crumbled under the weight of its ambitions (or lack thereof) between repetitive missions, overused enemy designs, and new heroes that were seemingly too similar to already released ones, it was only a matter of time that the game would meet its demise.

The studio announced early this year that the game would be sunset by the end of this year and the first phase of this plan has already been initiated. The latest and last content update makes pretty much every outfit in the item shop free and converts credits into in-game resources. In September the game will be delisted from all digital storefronts and online servers will be shut down. Players who already own the game will still be able to play the game, just not online.
