A Street Fighter Movie is in the Works

Capcom Announced early last week that it has partnered with Legendary Entertainment (the studio behind The Dark Knight Trilogy) to produce a new Street Fighter Movie and TV show. While Street Fighter is no stranger to the big screen (seeing its first major outing in 1994) and the small screen, it certainly looks like this attempt will consider all the complaints with the previous outings to deliver something that is built for both longtime fans and for a new audience.

In a statement, Capcom wrote that it’s seeking to boost game sales by adapting its own IPs to bring them to a larger audience, with Legendary Pictures being chosen to lead this because of its proven track record. The success of the Last of Us TV show and the subsequent rise in video game sales for that IP, certainly signals strong synergy between the live-action and gaming medium. There are currently no details or release dates for these projects.

Devolver Digital made an announcement on Twitter that left everyone chuckling. They humorously imitated Microsoft’s graphics used in their recent acquisitions, replacing it with Red Dead Redemption II as the new acquisition. As a part of this deal, Devolver Digital has also acquired Gunbrella, the highly anticipated game from Doinksoft, set to release on Nintendo Switch in 2023.

New Remnant II Trailer Gives Us a Much Closer Look at its World

Back in 2019, Remnant: From the Ashes caught the gaming world by surprise with its exceptional combination of unique gameplay mechanics and a procedurally generated world, all set against a robust RPG backdrop. Remnant II, its sequel was announced towards the end of last year, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. Promising to build on the winning formula of its predecessor, Remnant II is expected to offer an even better and more immersive experience for players.

Gunfire Games, the developer of Remnant II, recently released an exciting new trailer that gives us a deeper look into what we can expect from the game’s open world, Yaesha. The trailer introduces the potentially menacing antagonist, known as the “Root.” It showcases the haunting remains of the once great Pan civilization, now overrun with disease and decay, creating a grim and twisted environment for players to explore. With this glimpse into the game’s world, fans are eagerly anticipating the summer of 2023, when Remnant II is slated to be released.

EA Reveals First Details on FIFA Rebrand

After EA decided to part ways with FIFA over licensing disputes over the FIFA brand, many speculated how the video game conglomerate would handle its long-running and extremely successful sports game franchise going forward. While a rebrand from FIFA to EA Sports FC was announced right when FIFA 23 was released, EA has remained tightlipped on how exactly it’ll affect the franchise going forward but with the release of the game growing closer, the former FIFA license holder has revealed a few more details.

The logo moves away from the traditional sphere we’ve all come to know and expect, opting instead for a more modernized triangular look. In a press release EA stated that FC will become EA Sport’s platform to create, innovate, and grow new football experiences. The title will debut across a number of football events in the coming months ensuring that everyone knows where to be when the next football game drops. A New PlayStation Handheld Console is in Development

Following the disappointing sales of the PS Vita over a decade ago it seemed all but certain that Sony had effectively exited the handheld market, opting instead to focus on its mainline consoles and the promising future of VR, given the recent resurgence handheld gaming has seen over the last five years, driven mainly by Nintendo’s Switch console and Valve’s Steam Deck, it is no surprise that Sony is looking to take another stab at this revitalized market.

According to Insider Gaming, a new Sony handheld gaming system is in development. The console, however will be a streaming-only device, and will only be usable in conjunction with a PS5. The handheld, currently codenamed “Q Lite” will retain the Dualsense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers and will feature an 8-inch 1080p screen capable of streaming PS5 games in full HD at 60 FPS. The Q Lite is currently without a release date.
