RoboCop: Rogue City Announced

Initially announced during the 2021 Nacon Connect Event, the long-awaited Robocop: Rogue City was finally revealed during the publisher’s latest showcase. The trailer showed what fans can expect from this first-person shooter, based on the 1987 classic when it arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X & S, and PC next year.

Developer Teyon has been collaborating with MGM and Nacon to create a true-to-life RoboCop gaming experience, honoring the movie’s legacy to deliver an experience that encapsulates the soul and DNA of what made the franchise so special.

Watch the gameplay trailer below:

The game puts players right in the action of 2044 Detroit city. Robocop will have to work through robberies, crime scenes, gang violence, and hostage situations in addition to taking on a new threat, which was heavily alluded to in the game’s trailer.

RoboCop Rogue City

Borrowing heavily from the movie’s iconic art direction, it’s clear Teyon has set out to make a robust and authentic game for long-time fans while also aiming to pull in an all-new generation of fans. It describes the game as:

“Become the iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit. Armed with your trusty Auto-9, factory-built strength, years of experience on the force, and a variety of tools at your disposal, you will fight forces seeking to destroy the city you call home in an all-new first-person, explosive hunt for the truth. You have the power to decide how to fulfill prime directives in your own way, but as the story unfolds proceed with caution because corruption and greed know no limits.”

The game looks to be promising. Previous RoboCop games have been sufficiently lacking in terms of quality and this entry looks to rectify this.

We will know for sure when RoboCop: Rogue City launches in June 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X & S, and PC.
