Breaking away from previous Aliens games, Dark Descent takes a completely different route. Taking cues from the likes of XCOM to deliver something, unlike anything we’ve seen from the franchise.

Aliens: Dark Descent launches next year on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

The Callisto Protocol

The Callisto Protocol received a brand-new gameplay trailer featuring tones of gore, terrifying aliens, and new weapons.

The gameplay looks very reminiscent of Dead Space as most of the core team worked on that game previously. The trailer showed us just how gruesome this game is going to be.

At one point, the protagonist Jacob gets caught up in machinery as he fends off monsters that grinds him into a bloody mess. The demo also showed the use of melee weapons and a unique gun that pulls enemies closer to you.

The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2, 2022, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was officially revealed on June 8. The game got a proper gameplay demo giving the players a taste of what to expect with a mission titled Dark Water.

The demo sees taskforce 141 infiltrating a large ship. The jump in graphical fidelity was very evident with each surface and material showing an extreme level of detail.

The animation which is hand keyed was also on full display showing a major step up from previous games. The sound design, particularly where the guns are concerned also showed a major improvement over the previous game.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II launches on October 28 2022 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Fort Solis

Featuring Legendary voice actors Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption II) and Troy Baker (The Last of Us) Fort Solis is an upcoming sci-fi shooter game from Indie studio Fallen Leaf.

The game draws heavy inspiration from Dead Space featuring tones of horror and action underpinned by a gritty style featuring an incredible narrative.

Fort Solis is coming soon to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is an upcoming turn-based RPG game from the developers who brought you XCOM. The new trailer gave us a much-needed update to the game that was first announced last year.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will now also feature Spider-Man, Scarlett Witch, and Blade as they team up with members of the Avengers and X-Men to take down Lilith.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns Launches on October 7, 2022, on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is an expansion to 2017’s incredibly popular Cuphead. Cuphead combined elements of early 20th-century animation with side scrollers, coupled with a high difficulty level to deliver a difficult yet fun experience.

The new DLC will introduce Miss Chalice, a new playable character. Along with all-new Island to explore and new boss levels more intricately detailed than ever before.

The game lets players assume control of Donatello, Michelangelo, Rafael, and Leonardo along with April O’Neil and Master Splinter as they fight villains like Beebop & Rocksteady, The Foot Clan, and Shredder. The latest trailer debuted gameplay for Casey Jones.

Witchfire

Witchfire has been out of the spotlight for a while now but its latest showing at the Summer Game Fest shows it’s ready to reclaim it!

Witchfire is a first-person shooter incorporating elements of high fantasy. It features unique weapons and spells as well as some expertly designed monsters. The dark and grim environments shown in the trailer look exceptionally well made.

Witchfire is being developed for PC and will enter early access via the Epic Games Store in late 2022.

Flashback 2

Perhaps the biggest surprise during the Summer Game Fest was the announcement of Flashback 2. Flashback was first released in 1992 and has gone on to build a pretty substantial following.

Flashback is a sidescrolling platformer and the sequel looks to build on this. When the sequel arrives it will have been over 30 years since the release of the original.

Flashback 2 is currently in development and will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
