Warzone 2.0 and Warzone Mobile Announced

Call of Duty Next finally gave fans an insight into what to expect from the franchise in the coming months. From the multiplayer reveal to the official announcements of the next Warzone experience and Warzone Mobile, there was an incredible amount of information across all three titles.

The next Warzone, titled Warzone 2.0 will share the same mechanics and weapons from Modern Warfare II including ledge hanging, dolphin diving, field upgrades, equipment, and perks. Both games were developed side by side and will have deep integration.

Al-Mazrah is the New Warzone 2.0 Map

Al Mazrah Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 Map

The new Warzone 2.0 map will be called Al-Mazrah. This particular map has been in development for over two years across multiple studios including Infinity Ward and Raven Software. Al Mazrah will be an incredibly diverse and extremely detailed map featuring expansive deserts, industrial areas, cities, large water bodies, elevation, caves, and rocky spaces.

The maps POIs will incorporate iconic Modern Warfare multiplayer maps including terminal and Showdown. Al-Mazrah will be the biggest battle royale map for any Battle Royale title to date. A River system running through the map will allow you to go from one area of the map to the other either by swimming or through the plethora of sea vehicles being added to the game. Warzone 2.0 will offer the most diverse range of vehicular combat comprising land, air, and sea combat.

Vehicle Mechanics Have Been Completely Overhauled in Warzone 2.0

The vehicle system and mechanics have been completely overhauled in the new Warzone experience. Enemies will now be able to shoot the tires of your vehicles causing them to go off balance. Additionally, Different vehicles will have different weights and armors and consequently will react differently to explosives, for example, a smaller sedan might take one RPG hit to take down but a larger vehicle may require several.

Furthermore, vehicle combat has been expanded upon. Players will now be able to climb on top of the roof of their vehicles to get better angles on targets. Additionally, you can now peer out of windows and jump from vehicle to vehicle.

Finally, vehicles will now run out of gas and will need to be filled up from gas stations. Vehicle tires and armor damage will also be repaired at gas stations.

Warzone 2.0 Will Add New Mechanics and Put Exciting Twists on Existing Ones

Looting has been iterated on. In addition to crate and ground loot. Context-based looting has been added to the game; you will be able to find healing items and ammo where they would normally be found. For example in hospitals or medical bays, you will be more likely to find healing items, while ammo and guns will be found in weapon caches and depots littered throughout the map. The spot and spawn rate of these items will not change and will allow for more reliable looting across the map.

Circle mechanics have also been overhauled. Circles can now split into 2 or 3 separate circles towards the latter half of the game making way for micro battles in those mini circles. Once time is up all these zones will then re-merge, allowing the surviving teams to go head to head to claim victory.

The Gulag has also received a fun and unique twist. You now have to create a temporary alliance with another enemy and defeat two other players you will be going up against. If you win both you and your teammate spawn back in but now as enemies on the Battle Royale map. This essentially combines the 2v2 gunfight mode from Modern Warfare 2019 and the classic gulag experience for something very exciting and unique.

Another addition to Warzone 2.0 is Strongholds. Strongholds are buildings or areas reinforced by Infinity Ward’s new AI system. You can assault these locations if you chose to, to earn exciting rewards and better guns.

DMZ is Call of Duty’s Take on an Extraction Based Mode

Lastly, DMZ, a new Sandbox Call of Duty experience will make its debut in the near future in Warzone 2.0. DMZ will be an extraction-based mode where you infiltrate parts of the Al-Mazrah map, accomplish your goal, and then try to ex-fil. this will feature Infinity Ward’s new AI system to create the most robust PvPvE experience in Call of Duty history.

In DMZ, the player choice will be at the forefront. You will be able to go in Stealthily or with guns blazing. You will decide how you want to approach each situation and mission. More information regarding DMZ will be revealed in the future. Warzone 2.0 will drop alongside the first season of Modern Warfare II on November 16, 2022.

Warzone Mobile Will Bring The Iconic Console Experience to Mobile Platforms

Warzone Mobile will be the most ambitious Battle Royale title on mobile to date. Warzone mobile is set to bring back the iconic Warzone experience to mobile devices with little to no sacrifices. Everything you love about the game will be carried over including the full map alongside the full suite of weapons from Modern Warfare II.

Verdansk Returns in Warzone Mobile

Warzone Mobile will see the return of the iconic Verdansk map. Verdansk launched with the release of the original Warzone in early 2020 and quickly became a fan favorite. Verdansk will be back in its full glory featuring all the POIs and drop spots you’ve come to love. Very little compromise has been made to make the full map available on mobile devices, except for maybe an understandable visual downgrade. While Verdansk will be the principal map for Warzone Mobile, Al-Mazrah, the Warzone 2.0 map will be added to the game further down the line.

The Most Authentic and Connected Call of Duty Experience on Mobile

The true-to-life weapon handling and feedback from the console versions will be brought over to Warzone Mobile. The contract system, buy stations, kill streaks and gulag are all set to make a return. Additionally, Warzone Mobile will feature a staggering 120-player count and unlike other mobile battle royale games, none of them will be bots.

Warzone Mobile will be an extremely connected experience. All three games; Warzone Mobile, Warzone 2.0, and Modern Warfare II will have deep integration through cross-progression. Weapon leveling, rank progression, operator unlock and battle pass progression will be shared between all three titles. However, there will be some mobile-specific events. While console players won’t be able to join matches with mobile players, the progression will still carry over.

Warzone mobile will feature crossplay between iOA and android when it launches next year. Registrations are now open.
