Xbox and Bethesda Showcase: The Highlights

The Xbox and Bethesda showcase brought with it a look at a slew of new games coming to PC and Xbox consoles in the next twelve months. From Redfall and Forza Motor Sport to the highly anticipated Starfield, the showcase had something for everyone.

Gameutha.com picked out some of the biggest names and most exciting titles out of the 36 announced. Read our top picks from the Xbox and Bethesda showcase below.

Redfall

The show kicked off with a bang showing off Arkane Studios’ newest title. Redfall is an all-new open-world action co-op game. It is set in the town of Redfall, Massachusetts as it’s overrun by vampires. The vampires of Redfall aren’t what you expect. They are monsters who feed on the vulnerable to make themselves stronger.

Redfall will be playable solo in addition to the co-op mode. Players will be able to choose from four diverse characters. Namely Layla Ellison, Jacob Boyer, Remi de la Rosa, and Devinder Crosley. Each character encompasses their own unique personality in addition to a different playstyle.

Players will fight their way through hordes of vampires when Redfall launches next year on Xbox Series X | S and PC.

Forza Motorsport

The next entry in the incredibly popular Forza series brings with it a slew of new changes and features. The game will make use of raytracing to deliver the most realistic and grounded experience yet. Cars will dent, damage and scratch very accurately to how the player handles them.

Additionally, the game will also feature several weather conditions that will affect how cars handle the track. The trailer gave us our first look at some of the tracks set to be featured in the game including Circuit Hakone, set in Japan, and Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

Diablo IV

The highly anticipated next entry in the Diablo series will bring with it tones of new features including couch co-op and a number of new classes. Diablo IV will take the series back to its dark and gritty roots.

A great emphasis was placed on the game’s endgame content which will keep players busy alongside the introduction of public events.

Diablo IV launches next year on Xbox Series X | S and PC.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

The sequel to 2019’s incredibly popular A Plague Tale: Innocence had all-new gameplay reveal during the showcase. The game continues the story of Hugo and Amicia as they find themselves in a strange new land.

But when Hugo’s powers reawaken, death and destruction return in a flood of devouring rats. The siblings make their way to a prophesized island that may hold the key to saving Hugo. A Plague Tale: Requiem was also featured in our list of most anticipated games of 2022.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is set to launch sometime in 2022 on Xbox Series X | S, PS5, and PC.

Overwatch 2

The long-awaited sequel to one of the most popular arena shooters finally has a release date. Overwatch 2 will launch in October in addition to going completely free to play.

Overwatch 2 will feature an overhauled engine. Updates to existing heroes and additions of newer ones along with a new PvE mode, the first story-based mode the series has ever gotten.

Overwatch 2 will enter early access on October 4, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Minecraft Legends

Minecraft Legends is an all-new Minecraft real-time strategy by Mojang Studios. Players will be able to directly control their character and order their companions to take down the invaders that are making their way to blocky plains.

Minecraft Legends arrives on Xbox Series X | S, PS5, and PC next year.

Starfield

The newest IP from Bethesda Game Studios was finally shown off, giving players a taste of what they can expect when the game launches next year.

Starfield is an open-world planet trotting action RPG. It takes place 20 years after the events of the Colony War in which the major factions enjoy an uneasy peace. The game is set to feature over a thousand explorable planets.

Xbox + Kojima Productions

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the show was the announcement of a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Xbox. Hideo Kojima took the stage to announce a brand new game coming exclusively to Xbox consoles and PC in the near future.

The new IP will leverage Microsoft’s cloud technology to deliver something truly unique. It is currently without a release date.
